Management Senior Lecturer Liesl Wesson
Some of the most meaningful learning happens when students move beyond finding the right answer and begin asking better questions. Drawing on a decade of industry experience and previous university teaching, Harbert College of Business Senior Lecturer Liesl Wesson challenges students to think critically about leadership, decision-making and organizational success in her Honors Principles of Management (MNGT 3107) course.
Wesson's teaching style draws on substantial professional management experience to create a course that challenges Honors students academically while also giving them practical insight into what effective management looks like in the real world.
“It is important for students to understand not only the theories behind effective management, but also how those theories apply in real organizational settings,” said Wesson. “My goal is to make the course rigorous, engaging and highly relevant to students as they prepare to become future professionals and leaders.”
“Wesson is definitely one of my favorite professors I’ve had at Auburn,” said Adair Smith, an Honors junior majoring in health services administration in the College of Liberal Arts. “I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from a management course, but she made the class engaging by connecting what we were learning to real-world experiences and stories. She took the time to learn about my career interests and even helped connect me with people who could offer advice and insight as I explored different opportunities.”
